These 2 Ingredient Cinnamon Roll Apple Pies are like a two-dessert combination. You have the delicious flavor of a cinnamon bun along with the flavors of apple pie! What would be better?

Well, having them magically be zero calories would be better, but I digress.

Just like my 2 Ingredient Lemon Bars, these mini apple pie desserts look kinda fancy sorta and look like you put more work into the dessert than you actually did.

These cutie patooties are insanely easy to make and can be in the oven in about 10 minutes. The oven will probably take longer to heat up!

The other thing I love about this recipe is that it takes only 2 easy ingredients that the grocery store always has in stock: One can of apple pie filling and one tube of prepared cinnamon roll dough (with the icing).

Instructions

  1. Begin a recipe by preheating your oven and open the can of rolls and separate them. Set the icing aside for now.
  2. Flatten the cinnamon roll dough with a rolling pin and fit each one into a muffin pan, bringing the dough up the sides of the muffin cup to form the cinnamon roll crust part of this dessert.
  3. Open the can of apple pie filling, and I like to chop up the apple slices in it so they fill the cups. Evenly divide the filling among the 8 cups.
  4. Bake!

Recipe Variations

I LOVE adding some chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, etc) over the top of each little individual apple dessert. Regular apple pie and cinnamon buns are best friends with nuts, so it stands to reason that these mini cinnamon apple pies would be as well.

Remember the icing I had you set aside earlier? Heat it up in the microwave (literally 5 seconds) and with a spoon, drizzle it over top of the baby pies. I recommend you do that after they’ve cooled or the icing will melt off the desserts which is a bummer.

If you want more glaze, then melt some store-bought cream cheese frosting or caramel frosting to switch it up. Trust me when I say you’ll want a big cup of coffee or a glass of milk or a big(ish) scoop of ice cream when you eat these delicious morsels!

If ice cream isn’t your thing, you can always add some homemade whipped cream or cool whip, which is how I like to serve a lot of my easy desserts like this 2 Ingredient Blueberry Cake.

Recipe Q&A’s

Can I use a different filling for this recipe?

Yes, you can but it’s important to remember that it should be a pie filling and not a loose fruit filling. The pie filling has thickeners in it to keep it from leaking out of the dessert cup.

2 Ingredient Cinnamon Roll Apple Pie Cups

Only two ingredients are needed to make this super scrumptious Cinnamon Roll Apple Pie Cups Dessert. It tastes like an apple pie and a cinnamon roll had a baby! This dessert is two desserts in one!

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Additional Time 5 minutes
Total Time 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 can of Pilsbury Cinnamon Rolls (with the icing included)
  • 1 can Apple Pie Filling, 12 ounces

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375
  2. Open the roll of cinnamon rolls and set the icing aside. Grease a muffin tin.
  3. Separate the rolls and roll them flat, large enough to fill the muffin tin on the bottom and the sides.
  4. Open the can of apple pie filling. Transfer to a bowl and with a knife, carefully chop the apples in the pie filling into smaller pieces.
  5. Evenly divide the pie filling into each of the cinnamon roll rounds in the muffin tin.
  6. Bake for 12 - 15 minutes or until the cinnamon rolls are lightly browned on the sides.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool.
  8. Remove the top of the icing container and heat in the microwave for 5 seconds to make it pourable. Careful, it's very hot!
  9. Using a small spoon, drizzle the icing over the tops of the pie cups.
  10. Serve with whipped topping or as is! Enjoy!

Notes

It's a good idea to chop the apple slices into smaller bits so they fit the pie cups better. If you leave them as is, some of the apple slices are too big for the cups and they stick out of the cup.

You can drizzle the icing shortly after they come out of the oven, but I find the icing melts and doesn't look as nice or stay in place. That's why I recommend cooling the apple pie cups before serving. Plus, the apple pie filling is VERY hot when it comes out of the oven!
