About The Easy Recipes Here

  • You’ll find simple, easy-to-make recipes on the blog because they use a minimal number of ingredients while providing maximum flavor for your taste buds.
  • Most of the recipes range from 2 – 6 ingredients. You won’t find a 15-ingredient recipe on this blog. No complicated cheffy skills are required.
  • All the ingredients will be easily accessible.
  • I’ll provide the base recipe, but will always also include extra info on how to ‘switch up’ the recipe in case you want to add a twist on the variations of flavors, or volume to the dish.
  • Also included will always be storage/freezing guidelines and ideas on what to serve the recipe with.
  • You can search according to meal category (Dinner, Breakfast, etc) or, browse through the numbered ingredient categories to gain some cool inspiration using what you have on hand.

I think it’s important that we start taking out the stigma of shaming people for using ‘helper’ ingredients in our meals. A can of soup or gravy packet here, and a cake or muffin mix there, all these items are designed to help us save time, save money, and still be able to provide food on the table with ease.

About Joanne

I hail from the land of maple syrup, big ole moose, and hockey. That’s right, I’m a proud Canadian with a blend of Dutch and Ukrainian heritage.

Growing up, I had the privilege of learning the culinary secrets of the “old country” from my wise and talented grandmother. She passed down recipes like perogies (pierogi) (or as the Ukrainians say, вареники), cabbage rolls (both rolled and lazy!), nalysnyky (налисники), and more. She was the only person I knew that could make an amazing dinner when it looked like there was nothing but a loaf of bread, a peach, and a bottle of olives in the fridge!

Fun fact: my great-grandmother had a whopping 16 children, with my grandmother proudly holding the title of second oldest. Talk about a bustling kitchen!

Cooking has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I was always up for culinary experiments, like those infamous green cookies that I created from a made-up recipe in my head when I was 8 – that miraculously tasted amazing. It’s safe to say I wasn’t afraid to venture into uncharted flavor territories!

Growing up in a small town meant I didn’t have friends just a hop, skip, and a jump away. But fear not, my imagination was my best pal. I’d spend countless hours in my “mud kitchen” whipping up imaginary delicacies like mud pies. Hey, you gotta start somewhere, right? And let’s not forget my beloved Easy Bake Oven. I used to bake mini cakes using nothing more than the insanely hot lightbulb inside the toy “oven”. Looking back, I can’t help but marvel at the fact that I didn’t accidentally set my house on fire. Ah, the ’70s were a wild time!

After pursuing a career as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, I found myself working with the senior population in various care facilities. I absolutely loved the work I did, but a trip to Jamaica in 2010 changed everything. Family members who were talented photographers introduced me to the world of professional cameras. And just like that, a new passion was born. I began capturing people, flora, fauna, and of course, mouthwatering food.

It was only natural for me to combine my two loves: photography and cooking. Thus, The Salty Pot, my first blog, came to life. Five years later, I felt the urge to create something new and exciting, and that’s when Eazy Grub was born.

This blog is dedicated to all those who are just starting their culinary journey, those who are pressed for time, and those who want to cook up a storm without a never-ending grocery list. We all have days when we need a little help in the kitchen, and there’s absolutely no shame in relying on “helper” ingredients from the store to make magic happen while keeping our wallets happy.
