Are you ready for another snack recipe! This one is Mermaid Poop!
If you saw the Snowman Poop post then you already know what’s going on here. That one post kind of started this whole thing and now I’m just continuing the series.
This one is Mermaid Poop, which is basically cereal covered in white chocolate with a irridescent, sparkly sprinkles stuck to it. Super pretty right?
It takes about 20 minutes, there’s no baking, and you don’t need any special skills. If you can stir cereal in a bowl you can make this. I think this would be really cute for little girl birthday parties or pool parties. You could even put out bowls of extra candy like Swedish fish or other ocean looking stuff and let kids add more things to it.

🛒 Ingredient Notes

✅Round cereal (Kix or Corn Pops) – This is the base of the recipe. Any plain round cereal works. (You could also use CHEX mix as well if that’s what you find at the store).
✅White chocolate chips – Melts and coats the cereal. White candy melts work too.
✅ Coconut oil – Helps the chocolate melt smoother and ensures the chocolate dries at room temp.
✅CANDIES:
Lilac sprinkles – Adds color and sweetness. Any purple or pastel sprinkles are fine.
Small green & lilac sprinkle candy – The shiny ones look the most “mermaid”.
Powdered sugar – Light dusting on top so the pieces don’t stick together.
Optional: edible glitter or extra sprinkles if you want it more sparkly.
👩🍳How To Make Mermaid Poop
- Pour the cereal into a large bowl.
- Put the white chocolate chips and coconut oil and melt in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the cereal and stir to coat.
- Add the sprinkles while the chocolate is warm and mix so they stick.
- Spread the mixture on a tray lined with plastic wrap. (or parchment paper)
- Lightly dust powdered sugar on top.
- Let it sit until the chocolate hardens, then break into pieces.

Fun Party Ideas & Variations 🎉
If you’re making this for a party, it’s actually really cute in little treat bags with a tag that says Mermaid Poop.
You could also serve it with:
- gummy fish
- chocolate seashells
- other ocean themed candies
If you’re doing a winter party you could also make a mix of the other ones like Penguin Poop or Polar Bear Poop. Kids think the whole thing is hilarious.
- Use colored chocolate – Instead of plain white chocolate you can tint icing or candy melts with lavender, pink, or turquoise food coloring.
- Add more candy – More sprinkles, glitter, sugar pearls… whatever you have.
- Party favors – Put it in little bags and hand them out to guests.
Storage
Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place or in the fridge. It will keep for a few days (up to a week)… although it usually disappears pretty fast once kids find it!

If you want it to look even more ‘bejeweled’, sprinkle a little extra candy on top before it sets so it sticks to the chocolate. Or you can mix more in with the cereal from the start.
If you’re doing a themed party you could honestly make a whole snack table with the other ones too like Moose Poop, or Yeti Poop. There are halloween “poop” themed recipes that would pair great (Frankenstien farts, etc) especially if there’s little ones dressed up in those costumes!
I’m pretty sure Unicorn Poop will end up happening at some point too because that one has been requested a few times. So… stay tuned for that!
Thanks so much for stopping by EazyGrub today and I’ll see you next time!
