It’s creamy, sweet, and tangy, and triggers your taste buds into a flurry of fast-food nostalgia.  This saucy sensation is the perfect Copycat Big Mac Sauce Recipe and best of all, you can make it in the comfort of your own kitchen.

What’s To Love About This Copycat Mac Sauce Recipe

There are various copycat recipes that come very close to giving you the Big Mac Sauce experience. However, many of them have an endless list of ingredients and well, I just don’t have time for that.

My 4 ingredient recipe provides a shortcut to the coveted McDonald’s flavor, making use of a commercial dressing to do the heavy lifting. We’re all about working smart, not hard, am I right?

The best thing about this recipe? Simplicity is its secret sauce! With ingredients that are likely already hiding in your pantry or chilling in your fridge, creating your own big mac sauce recipe becomes a breeze.

Ingredients Needed

Super simple here, it’s only 4 ingredients.

Miracle Whip Mayonnaise – I used Miracle Whip because it has a bit more tang than regular mayonnaise.
Thousand Island Salad Dressing – Use Kraft’s brand or any grocery store brand that you like the flavor of.
Sweet Pickle Relish – This is important because it helps bring some of the texture of traditional mac sauce along with that slight vinegary note.
Onion Powder – You can sub in minced onion if you prefer, I just make it easy on myself and use powder.
Salt – Just to help adjust some of the sweetness from the other ingredients.

****EAZYTIP: Ingredients like salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oil don’t count towards the ingredient list because most people have these basic items in the pantry.

That’s it!

Other Uses For This Big Mac Sauce

What’s fascinating about this saucy superstar is its versatility. Sure, you mainly think about using it on burgers, but don’t let that limit its potential!

  • Spread it on sandwiches
  • Mix it into salads for a quick dressing
  • Use it as a dip for fries, onion rings or veggies
  • If you made enough, use it as the dressing for a delicious vegetable and pasta salad.
  • Try it as a drizzle over things like tacos, fried chicken, pizza, and hot dogs.

The possibilities are as boundless as your culinary creativity.

Storage Tips

Kept in a dressing bottle or container with a tight-fitting lid, this mac sauce will last about a week in the fridge. Do NOT store it at room temperature because it has mayonnaise in it. (Plus, room temp mac sauce doesn’t sound great, does it?)

As for freezing, I don’t recommend it. I know the urge of making up a big batch and then freeze it for whenever you want some is tempting, but it’s much better to just make up small batches as you need it. Fresher is better, my friend!

I don’t have Thousand Island Dressing. Can I make my own?

Why, of course! To replicate the Thousand Island dressing, simply mix mayo, ketchup, a small amount of finely chopped dill pickles, and a dash of white vinegar.

Can I add fresh onion to the sauce?

Absolutely. You won’t need much, maybe a tablespoon or so. Be sure to finely mince the onion so the sauce is smoother and easier to spread on the burger.
